Objective
GreenShoes 4.0 aims to prepare the Portuguese Footwear and Fashion Cluster for the challenges of the future by driving sustainable innovation and digital transformation across the entire value chain. The project combines expertise in advanced materials, products, manufacturing processes, and digital technologies to develop solutions with a lower carbon footprint, built around the principles of the circular economy, eco-design, digitalisation, and Industry 4.0.
Structured around five research and development programmes, GreenShoes 4.0 covers the development of new footwear and leather goods concepts, sustainable and multifunctional materials, advanced manufacturing technologies, artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, and digital production systems. The project also includes demonstration, dissemination, and knowledge transfer activities, strengthening the competitiveness, sustainability, and export capacity of the Portuguese footwear and fashion cluster.
