Objective
The TanneryBot project aims to develop and implement an automated pick-and-place system assisted by computer vision to optimise the handling and transfer of hides at the entrance to the painting process, replacing the current manual loading operation.
The system will be developed, implemented, and validated on a pilot production line at Curtumes Boaventura. The project focuses on reducing cycle times, increasing overall process productivity and workforce efficiency on the factory floor, minimising paint waste and coating defects, and preparing the solution for widespread adoption and seamless integration with advanced production management systems, such as Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs).
