Objective
The Think Industry i4.0 project aims to inspire, guide, attract, and equip students from lower secondary and upper secondary education to pursue careers in technology, industry, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The initiative supports career guidance by showcasing professional opportunities and specialised training pathways while strengthening the skills required by the manufacturing industry and contributing to the competitiveness of the Portuguese economy.
To achieve these objectives, the project is organised into five main activities:
Activity 1 – Awareness Sessions with Industry 4.0 Technology Demonstrations
Organisation of presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on activities focused on Industry 4.0, using portable equipment related to industrial digitalisation and other advanced manufacturing technologies.
Activity 2 – Industry 4.0 Technology Laboratories and Immersive Visits to Companies and Demonstration Centres
Delivery of practical sessions in laboratories, production environments, and prototyping facilities, encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity through experiential learning. The activity also includes visits to companies, entrepreneurial ecosystems, trade fairs, technology centres, innovation hubs, higher education institutions, and similar events, allowing students to experience Industry 4.0 technologies within real research, development, innovation, and industrial environments.
Activity 3 – Industry 4.0 Digital Tools and Entrepreneurship Competitions: F1 in Schools
Participation in F1 in Schools, an international multidisciplinary competition in which teams of students design, manufacture, and race miniature Formula One cars. The challenge develops technical, entrepreneurial, and innovation skills while providing practical experience in the complete product development and commercialisation process.
Activity 4 – National IoT Competition "This Is an Idea"
A national competition encouraging students to develop innovative Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. Participants are challenged to design smart, internet-connected products or services that simplify everyday life while promoting sustainability.
Activity 5 – Technical Project Management
This activity covers all project coordination, planning, monitoring, evaluation, communication, promotion, and dissemination tasks required to ensure the successful implementation of the project and maximise its overall impact.
