CTIC has been officially designated by the European Environment Agency as a European thematic center in the field of gaseous emissions, reinforcing Portugal’s role in the production of technical and scientific knowledge dedicated to environmental monitoring and the assessment of atmospheric emissions. This designation is the result of the work carried out by the CTIC over several decades, combining laboratory capabilities, applied research, and specialized technical support for industry. As a thematic center, the CTIC will now collaborate directly with European organizations responsible for analyzing atmospheric pollutants and greenhouse gases, contributing to the harmonization of methodologies, the validation of national inventories, and the production of environmental indicators used in public policy. Integration into the European network of thematic centers represents an institutional milestone for CTIC, expanding its scope beyond the tanning sector and consolidating its position as a national reference entity in the field of industrial sustainability. This new status also reinforces CTIC’s commitment to innovation, anticipating regulatory trends, and developing technological solutions aligned with European environmental requirements.
